醤油から広がる、台湾と日本の食文化交流。
先日、MAHORA西野谷で台湾と日本の食文化交流会を開催しました。
今回料理を担当してくださったのは、台湾・雲林県西螺で醤油づくりを営む家の三代目、Ozzyさん。
台湾から持参した醤油や醤油膏と、上越妙高地域の食材を組み合わせ、台湾の家庭料理を振る舞ってくださいました。
交流会に先立ち、妙高で長年味噌づくりを続ける太田味噌さんも訪問しました。台湾の醤油と日本の味噌。同じ大豆を原料とする発酵調味料でありながら、それぞれの土地の風土や食文化によって、異なる味わいが生まれています。
当日は、台湾を懐かしむ方や台湾料理を初めて味わう方など、さまざまな方が集まり、食卓を囲んで会話が広がりました。
食を通じて、異なる土地の文化や人に出会う。
そんな時間が、これからもMAHORA西野谷で生まれていけば嬉しく思います。

前陣子，我們在 MAHORA西野谷舉辦了一場台日飲食文化交流活動。
這次特別邀請來自台灣雲林西螺、醬油釀造家族第三代的 Ozzy，為大家帶來台灣料理。 從台灣帶來醬油與醬油膏，搭配上越妙高的在地食材，讓日本朋友透過料理認識台灣的味道。
活動前，我們也一起拜訪了妙高當地的太田味噌。
台灣的醬油與日本的味噌，同樣以大豆為原料，卻因為不同的風土、氣候與飲食習慣，發展出各自獨特的風味。
當天的參加者，有些曾經去過台灣，因為懷念台灣的味道而來；也有人是第一次接觸台灣料理。
大家圍著餐桌，一邊品嚐料理，一邊分享彼此的故事。
對我們而言，食物不只是味道，也是認識一個地方、一種文化，以及人與人之間交流的起點。
希望未來在 MAHORA西野谷，還能透過這樣的小小聚會，讓更多不同地方的人相遇。

雨の日が続く、晩秋の妙高。
山は少しずつ白くなり、里にはまだ紅葉の色が残っています。
晴れの日の景色も美しいけれど、雨に濡れた木々や、古民家の屋根に落ちる雨音にも、この季節ならではの静かな魅力があります。
MAHORA西野谷では、今年も半纏を出しました。
湯気の立つお茶を淹れ、囲炉裏のそばで過ごしたり、低い扉の奥にある小さな書斎で本を開いたり。
予定を詰め込まず、雨の音とともに家の中でゆっくり過ごす。
そんな旅も、これからの季節にはよく似合います。
Rainy days have settled over Myoko in late autumn.
The mountains are slowly turning white, while the village still holds on to the last shades of red and gold.
Sunny days are beautiful, of course—but there is something equally special about rain-darkened leaves and the gentle sound of rain falling on the roof of an old farmhouse.
At MAHORA Nishinoya, we have brought out our hanten jackets for the season.
Make a warm cup of tea, sit by the irori hearth, or open a book in the small study behind its low doorway.
Rather than filling every moment with plans, take time to simply stay indoors and listen to the rain.
This is a kind of journey that feels especially right at this time of year.

グリーンシーズンは静かになる温泉街ですが、今期からグリーンシーズンも営業してくださっていて、地元で暮らす身としても本当にありがたい存在です🙏
この日は無性にタイ料理が食べたくなって、ガパオライスを注文！
具材にタケノコがゴロゴロ入っていて、シャキシャキした食感が楽しくて親しみやすい美味しさでした😋
辛さも選べるので、辛いのが苦手な方でも安心です。
世界中のスキーヤーたちの寄せ書きで埋め尽くされた店内は、眺めているだけでもワクワクします⛷️🌏
温かいママさんとのおしゃべりも楽しくて、ついつい来月のタイ旅行の話で盛り上がってしまいました✈️
夜は一品料理とお酒が楽しめる居酒屋BARとしても人気です🏮

While many places in the village close during the green season, they are open, which is wonderful for both locals and travelers!
We enjoyed their comforting Pad Kra Pao, topped with a fried egg and plenty of crunchy bamboo shoots for great texture 🍳😋
You can also adjust the spice level to your liking.
The walls are covered with friendly messages left by powder snow lovers from all over the world, creating a warm, international vibe ❄️✨
It`s a great casual place to stop by for lunch, or for drinks and small plates in the evening 🍺

朝晩の空気がぐっと冷たくなり、妙高はいよいよ秋の深まりを感じる季節になりました。
現在は、苗名滝、いもり池、燕温泉・惣滝、関温泉・不動滝などで紅葉が見頃です。滝や渓谷、池に映る妙高山とともに、場所ごとに異なる秋の景色を楽しめます。
紅葉散策を終えたあとは、MAHORA西野谷へ。
築120年以上の古民家で、温かいお茶を淹れたり、キッチンでゆっくり夕食をつくったり。低い扉の奥にある小さな書斎で本を読んだり、夜は映画を観ながらくつろいだり。
観光地を急いで巡るだけではなく、その土地で暮らすように過ごす時間も、旅の思い出になると考えています。
これからお出かけの方は、朝晩や標高の高い場所では冷え込むため、薄手のダウンジャケットやフリースなど、さっと羽織れる上着をお持ちください。

As the mornings and evenings grow colder, Myoko is settling into the deeper colours of autumn.
The autumn leaves are now at their best around Naena Falls, Imori Pond, Tsubame Onsen and Sōtaki Falls, and Fudō Falls near Seki Onsen. From waterfalls and valleys to the reflection of Mt. Myoko on the pond, each place offers a different way to enjoy the season.
After a day of autumn walks, return to MAHORA Nishinoya.
In our 120-year-old Japanese house, you can make a cup of hot tea, prepare dinner slowly in the kitchen, read in the small library hidden behind its low door, or simply settle in with a film at the end of the day.
We believe that a journey is not only about visiting places. Taking time to live, even briefly, at the pace of the place you are visiting can become part of the memory too.
If you are visiting Myoko in the coming weeks, please bring a light down jacket or fleece. The mornings, evenings, and higher-altitude areas can become quite cold.

朝晩の空気がぐっと冷たくなり、妙高はいよいよ秋の深まりを感じる季節になりました。
現在は、苗名滝、いもり池、燕温泉・惣滝、関温泉・不動滝などで紅葉が見頃です。滝や渓谷、池に映る妙高山とともに、場所ごとに異なる秋の景色を楽しめます。
紅葉散策を終えたあとは、MAHORA西野谷へ。
築120年以上の古民家で、温かいお茶を淹れたり、キッチンでゆっくり夕食をつくったり。低い扉の奥にある小さな書斎で本を読んだり、夜は映画を観ながらくつろいだり。
観光地を急いで巡るだけではなく、その土地で暮らすように過ごす時間も、旅の思い出になると考えています。
これからお出かけの方は、朝晩や標高の高い場所では冷え込むため、薄手のダウンジャケットやフリースなど、さっと羽織れる上着をお持ちください。
秋から冬へ向かう静かな妙高で、ゆっくりとした古民家時間をお過ごしください。
As the mornings and evenings grow colder, Myoko is settling into the deeper colours of autumn.
The autumn leaves are now at their best around Naena Falls, Imori Pond, Tsubame Onsen and Sōtaki Falls, and Fudō Falls near Seki Onsen. From waterfalls and valleys to the reflection of Mt. Myoko on the pond, each place offers a different way to enjoy the season.
After a day of autumn walks, return to MAHORA Nishinoya.
In our 120-year-old Japanese house, you can make a cup of hot tea, prepare dinner slowly in the kitchen, read in the small library hidden behind its low door, or simply settle in with a film at the end of the day.
We believe that a journey is not only about visiting places. Taking time to live, even briefly, at the pace of the place you are visiting can become part of the memory too.
If you are visiting Myoko in the coming weeks, please bring a light down jacket or fleece. The mornings, evenings, and higher-altitude areas can become quite cold.

醤油から広がる、台湾と日本の食文化交流。
先日、MAHORA西野谷で台湾と日本の食文化交流会を開催しました。
今回料理を担当してくださったのは、台湾・雲林県西螺で醤油づくりを営む家の三代目、Ozzyさん。
台湾から持参した醤油や醤油膏と、上越妙高地域の食材を組み合わせ、台湾の家庭料理を振る舞ってくださいました。
交流会に先立ち、妙高で長年味噌づくりを続ける太田味噌さんも訪問しました。台湾の醤油と日本の味噌。同じ大豆を原料とする発酵調味料でありながら、それぞれの土地の風土や食文化によって、異なる味わいが生まれています。
当日は、台湾を懐かしむ方や台湾料理を初めて味わう方など、さまざまな方が集まり、食卓を囲んで会話が広がりました。
食を通じて、異なる土地の文化や人に出会う。
そんな時間が、これからもMAHORA西野谷で生まれていけば嬉しく思います。

從醬油開始，串起台灣與日本的飲食文化交流。
前陣子，我們在 MAHORA西野谷舉辦了一場台日飲食文化交流活動。
這次特別邀請來自台灣雲林西螺、醬油釀造家族第三代的 Ozzy，為大家帶來台灣料理。 從台灣帶來醬油與醬油膏，搭配上越妙高的在地食材，讓日本朋友透過料理認識台灣的味道。
活動前，我們也一起拜訪了妙高當地的太田味噌。
台灣的醬油與日本的味噌，同樣以大豆為原料，卻因為不同的風土、氣候與飲食習慣，發展出各自獨特的風味。
當天的參加者，有些曾經去過台灣，因為懷念台灣的味道而來；也有人是第一次接觸台灣料理。
大家圍著餐桌，一邊品嚐料理，一邊分享彼此的故事。
對我們而言，食物不只是味道，也是認識一個地方、一種文化，以及人與人之間交流的起點。
希望未來在 MAHORA西野谷，還能透過這樣的小小聚會，讓更多不同地方的人相遇。

雨の日が続く、晩秋の妙高。
山は少しずつ白くなり、里にはまだ紅葉の色が残っています。
晴れの日の景色も美しいけれど、雨に濡れた木々や、古民家の屋根に落ちる雨音にも、この季節ならではの静かな魅力があります。
MAHORA西野谷では、今年も半纏を出しました。
湯気の立つお茶を淹れ、囲炉裏のそばで過ごしたり、低い扉の奥にある小さな書斎で本を開いたり。
予定を詰め込まず、雨の音とともに家の中でゆっくり過ごす。
そんな旅も、これからの季節にはよく似合います。
Rainy days have settled over Myoko in late autumn.
The mountains are slowly turning white, while the village still holds on to the last shades of red and gold.
Sunny days are beautiful, of course—but there is something equally special about rain-darkened leaves and the gentle sound of rain falling on the roof of an old farmhouse.
At MAHORA Nishinoya, we have brought out our hanten jackets for the season.
Make a warm cup of tea, sit by the irori hearth, or open a book in the small study behind its low doorway.
Rather than filling every moment with plans, take time to simply stay indoors and listen to the rain.
This is a kind of journey that feels especially right at this time of year.
